Research with Natural Science Collections: Data, Quality and Methods

The WiNoDa Knowledge Lab supports researchers and curators in the five-day Online Winter School on basic data skills for working with objects in earth system research, archaeology and biodiversity research. The Online Winter School brings together experts who work with natural science collections.

In practical exercises, participants work with existing collection data, learn how to manage it efficiently with SQL and gain insights into the integration and harmonisation of data across different platforms.

The Online Winter School is suitable both for researchers working with collection data and for curators who want to review and improve the quality of their existing data sets.

The Online Winter School is organised by the Gesellschaft für Biologische Daten e.V. (GFBio), the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin (MfN), the German Archaeological Institute (DAI) and the Vernetzungs- und Kompetenzstelle Open Access Brandenburg (VuK), in cooperation with NFDI4Biodiversity.

The course will be held online in English and participation is free of charge.
