Publication FAIR vocabulary in museums and collections

Controlled vocabularies and standard data play a central role in the reusability of object-describing data in museums and collections. The minimum data set recommendation for museums and collections already contains important recommendations on the use of terminology in core elements of object documentation.

A sub-working group of the Minimum Data Set Working Group of the Documentation Section of the German Museum Association (DMB) has therefore compiled a list of relevant vocabularies for collection documentation and suitable offerings for specific documentation focuses and disciplines. In addition to a brief description of the respective content focus and the technical implementation status of the web offerings, each is classified according to the criteria of the internationally recognized FAIR principles. This enables a well-founded assessment of the sustainability and reusability of the described vocabularies in the contexts of networked publishing and effective research data management.
