Wikidata for Natural History Museum Collections

On February 9, 2026, from 4 to 5 p.m., the webinar “From Drawers to the Open Web: Wikidata for Natural History Museum Collections” will take place.

The webinar will show how natural history collections, research expeditions, objects, people, and media can be linked in Wikidata to form an open, FAIR-compliant knowledge network. Practical examples will demonstrate how data can be modeled, linked to global resources, and enriched with freely licensed media. It will also show how community-driven curation ensures long-term data quality and how structured data can be linked to open access publications – a compact insight into open, collaborative knowledge work.
