Community Survey 2023 – Documentation Standards
Data from digital primary documentation of the material remains passes through a complex life cycle. The hardware and software used during the documentation process as well as the applied standards and guidelines in all process steps play a decisive role for any later use and processing.
The goal of this survey is to provide a comprehensive overview and user evaluation of the tools and standards used in the various fields of material culture studies and neighboring disciplines for the digital documentation of material remains. The results of this survey also shape the further focus points of NFDI4Objects Task Area 1: Documentation. They form the basis for our cooperation with our communities, for example well-functioning and accepted standards and workflows.
