N4O at FORGE 2025
From 24 to 26 September 2025
FORGE25 - Research Data in the Humanities - will take place from 24-26 September at the University of Rostock. The conference brings together stakeholders from science, data infrastructure and research who deal with research data in the humanities. The theme of this year’s conference is ‘Rethinking Data’.
Review
Kristina Fischer, Anja Gerber and Frank von Hagel represented our consortium at FORGE2025 (Research Data in the Humanities) in Rostock with several contributions (workshop, presentation and poster). Anja Gerber and Kristina Fischer were also on site on Thursday during the breaks and lectures in the NFDI slot as contact persons for questions about N4O.
The abstracts, presentation slides and posters in which N4O was involved are now published on Zenodo:

Contributions from NFDI4Objects
NFDI4Objects is represented with several contributions:
In the workshop “Collections as research data. Data use as a joint task” will discuss how the tasks and roles of data providers, researchers and data competence centres should be developed in order to promote data-driven research with collections.
The presentation ‘Networking conservation knowledge digitally - from textual documentation to machine-readable terms’ presents a concept for a digital thesaurus that makes conservation-restoration knowledge accessible to both humans and machines. The concept was developed as part of a use case in TA4.
The poster ‘Ontologies as the key to conservation and restoration documentation’ (with SODa) deals with the question of how complex documentation data can be meaningfully structured, networked and made usable in the long term, and shows the added value that ontologies can offer in this area.
The poster “FAIR and green. Sustainability in research data management made visible and practically thought” (with the DHd AG Greening DH) explains ecological aspects of research data management.
In addition, NFDI4Objects will be presented as a consortium on Thursday, 25 September.
