What Are Temporary Working Groups (TWGs)

Temporary Working Groups

Temporary Working Groups (TWGs) are time-limited working groups within NFDI4Objects. They are formed when a specific question emerges from a subject-related discussion that requires in-depth, solution-oriented collaboration.

Unlike Community Clusters, which primarily serve as platforms for subject-specific exchange and networking, Temporary Working Groups focus on clearly defined tasks. These may include developing recommendations, drafting or refining standards, designing services, or creating contributions for the NFDI4Objects Commons. This approach allows impulses from the community to be directly integrated into the consortium’s practical work and current developments to be implemented in a hands-on manner.

Exchange and Co-Design

Everyone interested is invited to participate in the Temporary Working Groups. Meetings are usually held digitally, enabling flexible participation. An overview of active, planned, or completed TWGs, as well as the respective points of contact (Chairs), can be found here.

Founding a Temporary Working Group

If a specific question has not yet been addressed, an initiative group can be formed with other interested parties to develop a short concept and present the project to the consortium. The steering group then decides on the establishment of the Temporary Working Group.

After its founding, the new TWG is publicly announced and the group can begin its work. Members determine their own working methods, with a focus on clear objectives, regular activity, and transparent documentation of results.
