Open Access Publishing in Classical Studies – Questions and Answers
Would you like to publish your work in classical studies as open access? Do you want your research findings to be freely accessible and available for long-term reuse? At the same time, are you wondering whether open access is suitable for your publication project, or would you like to gain a better understanding of the processes and options available?
The information session organised by Propylaeum – Specialist Information Service for Classical Studies provides a concise overview of the basics of academic publishing in Open Access. Drawing on the publication options offered by Propylaeum E-Publishing and the services provided by NFDI4Culture and NFDI4Objects, the session will provide practical answers to key questions such as the following:
- What options do I have, as an author, to publish my article, thesis or monograph in Open Access?
- What options are available to editors for publishing conference proceedings or launching an academic e-journal?
- Is a printed edition possible alongside an open-access publication?
- What impact does open access have on visibility, reputation and academic recognition?
- What funding opportunities are available for open-access publications in classical studies?
- What exactly are ORCID IDs and what advantages do they offer researchers?
- How can research data generated in connection with a publication be published and documented in a sustainable manner?
- What specific issues arise regarding image rights and licences? Under what conditions can copyright-protected images be published, and what advantages can Open Access offer when clarifying usage rights?
The event is aimed at students and academics in the field of classical studies at all stages of their careers.
