ikmk.net - Münzkabinett Berlin Online Catalogue

ikmk.net is a portal for the documentation and publication of coins.

Description:

IKMK.net is a collaborative network of numismatic collections that use the documentation software provided by the MK Berlin. Since 2007, the Interactive Catalogue of the Numismatic Cabinet of the State Museums in Berlin (SPK) has been a continuously evolving scholarly tool for cataloguing and publishing the collections (coins, medals and paper money from antiquity to the present day). Since 2014, the cataloguing infrastructure has also been made available to partner institutions. By 2026, over 160,000 objects from more than 35 institutions had been published on the ikmk.net web portal. Open-access publication increases the visibility of individual collection holdings and makes them searchable across collections. The object records are made available in various formats (JSON, LIDO, XML).

Comprehensive documentation and standardised recording using authority data and specialist vocabularies (including NDP, nomisma, GND, VIAF, Geonames, Getty AAT, MD Term, British Museum Term) enables the data to be fed into both specialist numismatic portals (e.g. OCRE, CRRO, RPC) as well as in cross-sectoral repositories (e.g. museum digital, DDB, Europeana).
