Interfaces for the exchange of heritage-related data
Description
[ ] NFDI4Objects creates opportunities to make the heterogeneous and decentralized research data landscape - which arises in the context of conservation measures for movable and immovable tangible cultural heritage - FAIR and to provide interoperable data.
To this end, interfaces and community standards are being developed, based in part on the ADeX standard of the Association of the State Archaeologists of the Federal Republic of Germany, which enable the exchange of research data across repositories (e.g., collection databases, web portals, and subject-specific databases). They define core and optional data fields, their types, and contents to enable interoperability and automated data exchange between systems.
In this way, data from different data holders can be made more discoverable, reusable, and accessible in an interoperable manner for research, official use, and collaboration with specialized archaeological firms.
The definition of access levels will ensure that data holders can protect their interests and rights in a differentiated manner.
Furthermore, an interface should also address legal implications, such as those arising from the various state laws on the protection of cultural heritage.
