New Whitepaper on the topic of Fuzzyness & Wobbliness in the Community Hub
Definitions of vagueness, uncertainty and their combination in the Cultural Heritage Domain
The NFDI4Objects TWG Community Standards for Modeling Fuzziness & Wobbliness in Research Data Using Semantic Web Technologies and Formalisms (FuzzyWobblySW) has published a new white paper that defines the terms uncertainty, vagueness, and “fuzziness & wobbliness” from the TWG’s perspective.
The document compares and summarizes working definitions developed collaboratively by the FuzzyWobblySW TWG. The goal is to establish a common conceptual and modeling framework. By clarifying the concepts and presenting modeling strategies (e.g., probabilistic approaches, gradual semantic mappings, Wikibase implementations), the work contributes to more transparent, interoperable, and FAIR-compliant solutions for uncertain, imprecise, or ambiguous information in cultural heritage knowledge graphs.
The white paper is open for comments as part of the NFDI4Objects Commons process until May 28, 2026!
