Focus on Research Data: Forever lasts the longest
Workshop of the BBAW on June 25 and 26
From our network, we would like to highlight the participatory workshop organized by the initiative “Data Center – Scientific Concept and Design” of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities, which will take place on June 25 and 26, 2026, in Berlin.
The focus is on the sustainable preservation and use of research data - a topic that has gained further significance with the National Research Data Infrastructure. The workshop will discuss current challenges and prospects for the long-term operation of data repositories, particularly in the field of digital humanities resources.
The starting point is the planned data center of the BBAW, which is intended to ensure the aggregation, availability, and archiving of research data, software, and services starting in 2028. In the future, the center is also expected to be opened to external contributors.
The workshop combines insights from various fields—ranging from research and infrastructure to libraries and archives—with interactive formats. The focus is on questions regarding sustainable technical solutions, the use of AI, accessibility and reuse, as well as models for long-term financing.
