Survey: „Research using Derivatives“

Participation until 15 November 2026

The DFG-funded project “Researching with Derivatives” at TU Darmstadt is currently conducting a survey amongst researchers.

The project is developing derived text formats (ATFs) for selected collections. ATFs provide specific information, characteristics or structures from the source data without making the complete original content accessible. This helps to overcome, as far as possible, any access restrictions that apply to the original data. The project is also investigating the extent to which the principle of information reduction can be applied to other datasets and research contexts.

Among other things, the survey seeks to clarify

  • what data and documents researchers require for their work,
  • what experiences they have had with restricted or protected data access, and
  • to what extent they have already worked with derived text formats or comparable approaches.

It is aimed at researchers from all disciplines and is available in English. Those interested can take part until 15 November 2026:
