Workshop: Perspectives on AI for Archaeologies – Workshop Series in NFDI4Objects
Artificial intelligence is reshaping archaeological research, documentation, and data processing. But how can AI concretely support these fields? What applications already exist, and what challenges—such as data sovereignty or collaboration with other NFDI consortia—do we face?
In our workshop series “Perspectives on AI for Archaeologies”, we explore these questions from multiple angles:
- Stocktaking and Practical Examples: From collection documentation to coin recognition and text mining—discover how AI is already being used in archaeological projects.
- Learning from Neighbors: How are other NFDI consortia leveraging AI? A forum for sharing methods, services, and synergies.
- Data Sovereignty and Legal Frameworks: What does AI mean for research data infrastructure? Current regulations and practical case studies.
This series is aimed at researchers, data managers, and anyone interested in the use of AI in archaeology. Together, we will explore the potential of AI and shape the future of archaeological research.
