NFDI4Objects mourns the loss of Berit Hildebrandt

We were deeply shocked to hear of the sudden death of our colleague Berit Hildebrandt, who passed away on 20 September 2026 following a short, serious illness.

“Ultra posse nemo obligatur”

Berit was always keen to remind us of this principle in her role as coordinator of Task Area 5 and as a member of the Coordination Office, particularly during times of great challenges.

With her witty humour and energetic manner, she enriched our daily teamwork and often brought a smile to our faces.

In her, we have lost an outstanding colleague with great organisational talent and a scientist who was as versatile as she was internationally renowned, who dedicated herself to the consortium with great enthusiasm and a willingness to help, and who contributed significantly to its success.

Our thoughts are with her family, her friends and all those who felt close to her.

We shall miss Berit greatly and will honour her memory with gratitude.
