Online workshop: From the field to FAIR: Approaches to minimal metadata for the interoperability of near-surface geophysical data
Dear colleagues, Metadata is the key to ensuring that datasets remain usable, discoverable and reusable in the long term. We therefore invite you to the online workshop ‘From the Field to FAIR: Approaches to Minimal Metadata for the Interoperability of Near-Surface Geophysical Data’ on Monday 30 November 2026 from 9 am to 11 am.
The workshop is divided into two parts. The first part offers an insight into the current state of development of the metadata model https://zenodo.org/records/20138538. The second part is practice-oriented: using test data and a template derived from the ontology, participants will work together to record metadata. The focus will be on hands-on experimentation, sharing experiences, and discussing use cases and challenges.
The link to the workshop can be obtained by emailing Johannes Rabiger-Völlmer: johannes.rabiger-voellmer@ufz.de
The workshop is taking place as part of an inter-consortium use case involving the NFDI consortia FAIRagro and NFDI4Objects.
We look forward to a lively turnout. Kind regards,
